Project Management

Three different levels of training on Project Management are available and you should complete the level relevant to your current role.

Level Audience
Level 1 Corporate Management Team (Assistant Chief Executives and Heads of Service), Project Sponsors/Senior Responsible Officers
Level 2 Project Managers and Project Teams
Level 3 Elected Members and other relevant stakeholders

Level 1 – Senior management team

Officers at this level will require a thorough knowledge and understanding of the project management matrices and the associated responsibilities required of this role.  This will include but not be limited to:

· Fundamentals of project management · Understanding of matrices
· Understanding the role of Project Sponsor / Senior Responsible Officer · Understanding of how to manage live projects and ensure the project is aligned to the Business Plan
· Understanding the importance of post project review · Understanding of the importance of sign off at the end of a project

This training will be classroom based and take 3.5 hours

 

Level 2 – All officers

Officers at this level will have a full and thorough knowledge and understanding of how to utilise the project management matrices and competently complete the associated key documentation required to fulfil all aspects of each matrix.  This will include but not be limited to:

· Fundamentals of project management · Detailed exploration of project management matrices to ensure a consistent approach across the organisation
· Understanding the role of Project Manager and Project Team members · Understanding of reporting requirements to key stakeholders
· Understanding of the importance of setting and adhering to milestones · Understanding of the importance of learning from other projects
· Understanding of the importance of setting and adhering to milestones · Understanding of the importance of learning from other projects
· Understanding of how to report real time information

This training will be 1 day and classroom based

 

Level 3 – Elected members

Attendees at this level will require a broad overview and understanding of the matrices and understand their roles and responsibilities in regards to project management.  This will include but not be limited to:

· Understanding the project management journey · Understanding the different roles involved in a project
· Understanding the importance of reporting · Ability to support good audit and governance arrangements
· Ability to support good audit and governance arrangements · Understand how project align to the Business Plan

This training will be classroom based and be of 2.5 – 3.5 hours in duration.
